Please join us for a fireside chat featuring Josh Friedman, Co-Founder, Co-Chairman and Co-Chief Executive Officer of Canyon Partners, and Ted Seides, Founder of Capital Allocators. Josh and Ted will discuss perspectives on the current market environment, the credit cycle, and where to find opportunities with attractive risk/return, among other topics. 

The event is co-hosted by 10 East and Sandalwood Securities. It will be live-streamed, with an in-person component at the Harvard Club of New York City. In-person capacity is limited to 10 East members, Sandalwood limited partners, and their guests.

Josh Friedman (AB '76, MBA '80, JD '82)

Canyon Partners, LLC

Josh Friedman is Co-Founder, Co-Chairman and Co-Chief Executive Officer of Canyon Partners, LLC. Mr. Friedman is a graduate of Harvard College (B.A., summa cum laude, Phi Beta Kappa, Physics), Oxford University (M.A., honors, Politics and Economics, Marshall Scholar), Harvard Business School (M.B.A., Baker Scholar) and Harvard Law School (J.D., Sears Prize, magna cum laude). Prior to forming Canyon, Mr. Friedman was Director of Capital Markets for High Yield and Private Placements at Drexel Burnham Lambert. Prior to working at Drexel, Mr. Friedman worked in the Mergers and Acquisitions Department of Goldman Sachs in New York.  

In 2014, Mr. Friedman, along with Co-Founder Mitch Julis, received Institutional Investor’s “Lifetime Achievement” Award. Mr. Friedman is a member of the George W. Bush Presidential Center Executive Advisory Council. Additionally, Mr. Friedman serves on the boards of a number of endowments and foundations including Harvard Management Company, Harvard Committee on University Resources, The Andrew W. Mellon Foundation, California Institute of Technology, Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts, and Los Angeles County Museum of Art. Mr. Friedman previously served on the Board of the Dean’s Advisors for Harvard Business School, as well as the boards of the Los Angeles Philharmonic, the J. Paul Getty Trust, the UCLA Hospital Department of Neurosurgery, the UCLA Anderson School of Management, and the California Science Center. 

Mr. Friedman and his wife, Beth, live in Dallas, Texas and have three sons. Mr. and Mrs. Friedman co-endowed the Star-Friedman Challenge for Promising Scientific Research at Harvard University and are 2019 recipients of the Ellis Island Medal of Honor.

Ted Seides (MBA '99)

Capital Allocators

Ted Seides, CFA is the founder of Capital Allocators, an ecosystem that includes podcasts, gatherings (Capital Allocators Summits and Capital Allocators University), and advisory to managers and allocators. 

He launched the Capital Allocators podcast in 2017. The show reached 13.5 million downloads in December 2022 and has been recognized as the top institutional investing podcast. In March 2021, Ted published his second book, Capital Allocators: How the world's elite money managers lead and invest that distills key lessons from the first 150 episodes of the podcast. 

Ted previously worked under David Swensen at the Yale Investments Office, invested directly at three of Yale’s managers, co-founded and served as Co-CIO of Protégé Partners, and made a famous bet with Warren Buffett. Ted graduated Cum Laude from Yale University and received an MBA from Harvard Business School.
